Your answer to the question, “What does that even mean?”
Closed Door Romance
Closed door romances describe intimate activity in subtle and implicit terms. These romance novels can feature a “fade-to-black” description, implying explicit activity rather than describing it. Often considered wholesome, these books are low on the spice scale.
Open Door Romance
The imagery in open door romances is descriptive and explicit. They depict intimate moments between characters graphically. Open door romances are typically higher on the “spice” scale.
Omegaverse
The Omegaverse is a subgenre of fiction that relies on character hierarchy as a plot device.
Characters are influenced by their dominance – as alphas, betas, and omegas – which informs their behavior and ability to relate to others.
-Characters can be shifters (ex: werewolves) but can also be human
-Scents and mating bonds are common
-The Omegaverse started as an alternate universe in Supernatural fan fiction – and there are lawsuits about it (check out Into the Omegaverse)
-The Omegaverse books were traditionally very dark, but sweet Omegaverse is gaining traction
-Typically, they MUST self-identify as Omegaverse, or it is not Omegaverse!
